Okay, we're going to talk about whiteboard markers and action. No okay, so Japanese whiteboard markers are better than a lot of the whiteboard markers you are used to. Why do you say that? Well, please pick up the whiteboard marker that came with our board. This is a whiteboard marker that came with the whiteboard. Okay, well, to be fair, the whole thing was less than $2, so maybe it's okay. Yeah, okay, for that mark. So let's see what happens if we go over this one. It's actually pretty juicy. Don't think it's not too bad right now. Oh, it is! You can see a little bit of how when you go over your own writing it starts to smear a little bit. And I mean, it's fine for what it is, but if you use whiteboard markers a lot, you probably would appreciate having some really good ones. So the problem I found is if you're going into meetings, especially meetings that are supposed to be running, and we had the situation at Apple all the time where we'd go into the meeting rooms and the whiteboard markers available would be all dried out or some colors would be missing or you'd only have blues to work with or something like that. It's kind of like, yeah, but more often than not, they'd be all dried out or people would leave permanent markers up at the whiteboard, right? Anyway, so I started bringing my own whiteboard markers. Yes, and that's how most people who are serious about pens do with all their writing implements is they bring their own because yours are generally better. Okay, cool, so which one do we want to talk about first? We've got all kinds of Japanese whiteboard markers here. Well, okay, so so first we want to say that most all of the whiteboard markers that we have regardless of brand come in kind of standard primary colors, red, blue, green, black. There's some orange and purple in there, but that is pretty similar across all of them. A lot of them have different tip sizes and shapes. They're all very yeah, a lot of them have a much fatter look. Yeah, compared to the American yeah, that's true whiteboard markers. They are all pretty bold and Inky juicy feeling, which is really good. Yeah, they're really bold and juicy for sure. Okay, so I think we should jump in and show some Staedtler first. Okay, you want to start with the Staedtler? Yes, I think it's Staedtler, Staedtler. Okay, let's start with the Staedtler. All right, so one right off the bat, we sell these in sets. This the excellent case that the set comes in. Oh yeah, so then you always have the ones you came in to the meeting with, and it's because if you have a missing slot, you'll notice it right, so it's very easy to pack up. Oh, these are nice cases, and then, of course, ah very cool kind of little stand mode transforms into that, and has them all looking very good. Cool, and that comes in a six or a four set as you can see, and the six set has the additional colors purple and orange along with red, blue, green, and black. Interestingly, the six set comes in chisel tip only, but the Four Color set comes in round point or chisel point. Do we sell both of them? Yeah, we sell both of them, and you can buy individuals of all six colors in both tip shapes. Oh, this feels nice. So I'm trying both ways because it says you can do a 5 mm or a 2 mm. Yeah, this is kind of you can really control what you're doing. Yeah, I think that's an excellent one. The one of the big features of the stab there is what they call dry safe, and they mean that the marker can be left uncapped for days without drying out. Oh, do you believe that? Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it, but I think should we try it possibly? I'm I'm guessing what I do believe is that it's probably more resistant to drying out than most whiteboard. This is a pretty shade of green. Yeah, it's kind of minty. Yeah, nice. Okay, so these are cool sets. Yeah, and that purple is interesting because that's our only whiteboard marker that comes in purple. I think so. That's kind of an exclusive. Yeah. I wonder why purple whiteboard markers aren't more common in the Japanese. And there's no brown also, which okay, that is really interesting. Well, we'll have to keep our eye out. Can you hand me that paper towel so I can clean this? Another thing about the Staedtler is that technically it is refillable. Oh, interesting. So, so that kind of makes sense. Oh, you mean the whole thing's refillable or the cartridge like you buy a pot of ink and oh, and you charge it, you charge it. I've seen the picture of that. So that's good because, you know, maybe you're someone who would use up your purple, you'd want to recharge it, and you know, so if you guys are interested in that, please let us know in the comments. We don't currently carry that, but it's something we could get. The recharger basically, they'd be buying the whole recharger pot. Yes. Now, can you also buy these individually? Yes, both the Chisel tip tip and the round tip are available individually in all six colors. So but do we only sell the set? No, we sell the individuals. Okay, cool. So if you want orange round tip, you can get that. And if you really like the case, the is very cool, maybe you buy a four pack, and maybe you want to swap out the orange or the red for an orange or something like that. You totally could if you have a boss that leads meetings on whiteboard a lot. These would actually be pretty cool gift. I feel like yeah, good way to suck up your boss too. One thing you can see on that that's pretty common to all these is the cap shows the tip shape, which is kind of interesting if you oh, you're top of the that's cool, which can help if you like having some round point and some chisel Point tips. Okay, really cool. So that is the Staedtler whiteboard markers, and I hope you guys like them. We just kind of launched those on the store recently, which is why I don't know much about them yet. Okay, what do you want to talk about next? Uh, next we should talk about the uni whiteboard markers. Okay, only really have one. Oh yeah, this oh, it's really pretty though. I think it's cool looking, and you can put it on your lanyard if you want, which sounds dorky, but would actually be pretty convenient to always have that way. If you went into a meeting with a dried-up marker, you would always have your emergency one. Plus, has Japanese on it, so everyone would know you're cool. Just kidding. That is a feature of most of these. Okay, yeah, yeah definitely there. So maybe you can demonstrate those. What should I write? I think you should write uni rocks cuz it does. Well, that's true. I didn't know people said rocks anymore. Bringing it back. Okay, the refill for this are really interesting because we don't carry the refills yet. If people are interested, please let us know. If you buy the refill, you're basically getting everything but the barrel. You get a new tip and a new ink Reservoir all in one. If you buy the refill, the uni refill comes with a replacement tip. Yes, or it's part of the whole thing, one big piece. Oh, I see. Do I have it here? Or we don't? We don't carry it now. We could, so people need to let us know if they're interested in refilling them or if they just want a new one. Okay, and you should know that pricewise you're not going to be saving that much money. So basically, the only reason you'd want to refill it is for ecological reasons and not so much for economical reasons. Does that make sense, right? Yes, that's exactly right. Okay, okay, and this is obviously so this only comes in the round tip for now. For now, yes. If it's popular, we can expand it to other tip shapes. But it’s a very cool standard, very nice whiteboard marker. It's made in Vietnam, like a lot of Mitsubishi uni stuff is starting to be made in Vietnam. Okay, okay, so that's the uni whiteboard marker, uni whiteboard marker. Okay, now we should some of the Pentel Knockle line. Pentel o, I love the Pentel Knockle. Okay, there's the Pentel Knockle, and then there's the Pentel Knockle fit. I think we should show the like regular Pentel Knockle First, some cool features of the Pentel Knockle are that you got this. So when you buy it, let me find one that's out of the plastic that hasn't been pumped yet. So we can show them. I think this may be one. Yeah, okay, so as you see, you want me to pump this one. Well, yes, in a minute, as you can see, the tip is totally dry and white, and you can kind of see there's an ink reservoir toward the back, and you've got this button that you can use to pump it. You should note that you can either pump it like that or even with the cap on. Oh, I felt a pump. Then you can pump it that way too. Okay, so the idea is that when you first get it, you spend a bunch of time pumping it, and you can already see ink. Yeah, I pumped it once. Yeah, on accident. So give it another 10 or 15, um, pumps, and you will start to see the ink flowing more into the tip. So while she's doing that, the point of this kind of is if your marker starts to feel dry, then you can pump it a couple times, and it will get more ink from the reservoir into the tip. And the way Pentel kind of describes this is that you can use every last bit of ink in your whiteboard marker. So when it gets low, the quality of the writing doesn't diminish until it's actually completely out of ink because you keep pumping every last little bit into the writing tip. Now, my understanding is these other ones are claiming the same kind of thing, only it's like a pressurized um, the the board Master technology. Yeah, and so it's claiming it's sort of doing this on its own, right? So maybe different ways of providing that pressure. Yeah, providing they're they're both trying to solve the same problem. Okay, so you can see it's getting looks cool as it gets. Yeah, it down to the tip, and obviously you could be doing this much faster. I would just kind of wanting everyone to see how it works. Yeah, those are those are fun, and I would advise people if they get a new one of these don't be afraid if you end up pumping it 25 30 times to get it going originally cuz you really got to soak it to get it going pretty much. Yeah, I mean, it helps to move the ink up there. I think as you're using it if it starts to feel dry, then you probably just pump it a couple times to build up a little more pressure. Okay, I think I've got it pretty nice and soaked. Yeah, so try it out. Okay, oh yeah, that's really juicy, and this is by Pentel. Yeah, I might have gotten it a little too [Laughter] juicy. So that one is the rounded tip, right? That's the rounded tip. We this one also you can see on the on the cap the tip shapes, which is kind of nice. This one we've been using in the warehouse a lot, and it's um, you know, nice and juicy too. Yeah, that's but it's a chisel tip tip. Yeah, a much loved chisel tip. Yes, and let's see these are all chisels too, fat chisel and a fat round. Okay, wow, that is super juicy. Yeah, so those are cool. All nice bow ink. All Pentel Knuckles have those features. We also have a special Pentel kn Knockle that we think it's really cool. We just call the Knockle, and that should be in there somewhere. Yeah, let me erase this, and I'll unleash the awesome knuckle fit. Okay, here is the knuckle fit. So the tip is what's so amazing here. This is essentially a brush pin whiteboard marker is the idea. In other words, the harder you press, the fatter of a line you get. Oh, it's so cool, and in particular if you're writing in kanji, the idea is that you can make the sort of Strokes that kanji demands whereas with a normal whiteboard marker, you only kind of get one thickness or you tend to just get kind of one thickness of of stroke whereas with this if you press harder to get the thicker uh line somewhere it's looks more uh at home with character language writing. Mhm, what do you think is that true or not? Yeah, no, I think it's awesome. I think it's awesome. I was just kind of exploring it. Yeah, so that one was when I opened it it had already been pumped, and obviously this is one that hasn't been pumped yet, and it's the same kind of thing as the other thing you can pump with the cap or without this is really cool, right? Difference is the tip has these little flexies on it so that you're kind of writing with the fine point of the tip, but as you press it kind of bends over, and you're writing with the side of the tip to get those fatter lines, and the harder you press, the more of a wide line you get, which is really pretty cool. Well, and you can do it like you can use them the way you would use more traditional brush lettering to where you're going heavier on your downstrokes and lighter on your upstrokes, and then you end up with that kind of nice variation. Yes, yeah, so this is very cool. So this is called the Pentel Knockle fit, right? Yes, right. In general, they're called Pentel Knuckles. That one with a special tip is called Knockle fit, and you can see again on the cap it shows that tip shape shows a of bent over which is cool. They're calling it a soft round tip basically soft round. Okay, interesting. Okay, last but definitely not least is the huge pilot board Master line. Yeah, there're definitely not least. They have a really big line here. Let me kind of grab and cuz they come with refills and tips and everything so okay, so we have six different tip types, and again, that you can see on the Caps. Um, Let me show the Caps so that people can kind of get a glance at that, right? And I'll list them off. We've got fine round, medium round, fat round, then we've got medium chisel fat chisel and super thick which is really kind of this big rectangular block and is maybe maybe the coolest. Yeah, because you can use it as like a big thick lettering marker or you can also use it on its side for example and have a much thinner line. I I think it's very cool. Um, so here it looks like this, and actually so you could be making Strokes more like this or you could be making a lot thinner Strokes, right? So actually strangely enough, this could be one of the better all-around markers just because it's so versatile. I actually like that it's super chunky and fat too. I mean, if anyone steals this from you in a meeting, you know it was yours for multiple reasons. Also, you imagine yourself giving a presentation and you're trying to bring people's attention to certain points and having spindly little lines, especially in a big conference room on a big whiteboard. Many people can't see what you're even writing, right? So if you have this big fat blocky tip Force to give emphasis to certain things, could be really helpful. These are so much you know more bold and wet than the ones that are traditionally in in the room for you when you get there. Yeah, I think it's nice too that the barrel is a little bit fatter. I think it's a little bit easier to hold when you're up standing up writing mhm on a vertical surface as opposed to sitting down writing on paper. I think that's why it's nice that they're so wet too is like they don't dry out where you're using them. I think this one is a fat chisel. Yeah, so as Kimberly mentioned before, the ink is kind of pressurized in there. You can kind of see in the back there's a little clear thing, and the important thing that you should know which is written in a warning in Japanese is yes, don't take off the bottom. Yeah, because since there's ink in there and it's somewhat pressurized, you could have a big mess. Yeah, if you take off the bottom before it is empty. Yeah, so you will need to take off the bottom if you're going to put in a new cartridge, but by then it's empty, and so I think the the pressure and situation so they want you to wait until you're really dried up before you change it. Yes, and you can change the tips too, so you know your tips got get worn out that one that we've been using a lot eventually, the the tip um, you know, can get a little splayed out, not a sharp. So you can replace the tips in all of them except for the super thick, right? But you can replace the ink cartridges in all of them, including the super thick. Which is really nice to be able to put more ink in your special awesome whiteboard markers. Yeah, cool. So these come in red, orange, green, blue, and black, which is excellent. I think these might be the most impressive ones we carry because you can replace the ink and tips, and they come in so many tip sizes. I would like to see them in more colors though.
Yeah, I mean, I do agree that these are great, kind of like the colors everyone wants. But people like to expand with more interesting colors sometimes. Yeah, I want brown, I would like to see purple and all the different brands. Yeah, and if you work for Sanrio or something, you probably want pink. Certain people need pink for work, there you go. So these are really excellent.
I think for a lot of people, even people who are very particular and take pride in their pen collection and have special pens they like to use for work, don't even think about this. They go to work and use the crappy whiteboard markers that have been left in the conference room for a year. It's really worth it if you're someone who likes to make a good impression when you're giving a presentation. Think about bringing your own whiteboard markers and just don't let anybody steal them, and don't leave them in the conference room after you leave. They are yours, and you should protect them. But it'll be easy to hunt down the people who stole them from you, don't you think? Yeah, exactly. So who here has a Board Master with Japanese characters all over it?
So if people were going to start by trying one or three, would you know? Yeah, if people were going to start by trying one, I would recommend the super thick to anyone. Just because, okay, this one, the super fat Pilot Board Master, comes in all the colors. I feel like that's the one that's most likely to make a big difference in your presentation. People would be surprised by that. I would say go for a Knockle Fit too because it's unlike any you've ever tried before. Agreed. Agreed. I think it would make your handwriting look more natural, especially if you're someone who takes pride in your handwriting. Then it would kind of take your whiteboard writing to the next level, make it look more like normal writing.
Anything else you want to mention about these or any other favorites you want to mention? Really like the Staedtler case we already talked about. I think that makes you look professional too, to have a set that's ready and you're not grabbing for them strangely or whatever. I like those a lot. And we should mention that's a German company, but these are made for the Japanese market, right?
Yeah, that's true. I know a lot of Staedtler is made for the Japanese market, but this seems like it could be available in German too. Like, yes, it's not exclusive to the Japanese market, right? Okay, but you would be very likely to find this imported by Japan. We get all of our Staedtler stuff from Japan, not Germany. You would be very likely to find this if you went into a Japanese stationery store in the whiteboard section.
